About the artist
As a lifelong artist and board-certified art therapist, I believe in the transformative power of art—both in therapy and in personal expression. My artistic journey began in my youth and was nurtured through my undergraduate studies in fine arts at the College of Charleston in South Carolina. This foundation deepened as I earned my master’s in art therapy at IUPUI in Indianapolis, where I learned to blend the therapeutic process with creative expression. Throughout my career, the creative process has become increasingly vital, especially as life’s challenges unfold. Creating art is not just an outlet; it is a path to healing, understanding, and growth.
My work is deeply influenced by the textures and colors that surround me, from my passion for growing flowers to my experiences in the therapeutic space. I am drawn to the sensory qualities of materials, allowing them to guide my process and evoke emotional responses. Each piece is a reflection of my ongoing personal journey and my belief in art as a form of self-expression, emotional release, and connection.
I have participated in several art fairs, including the Penrod Arts Fair, and exhibited in various galleries showcasing art therapists as artists. My work has also been sold through local interior design firms. I find joy in sharing my art with others and engaging with the public, whether at an art fair or in a gallery setting. The intersection of personal therapy and creative expression continues to shape the stories I tell through my work, inviting others to engage with the beauty of color, texture, and emotion.
